Anne and Scott Baxter bought the premises in 2002 and have been refurbishing the rooms and restaurant culminating in many awards. Including the Scottish new restaurant of the year award (Runner Up) 2002.

AA Rosette award

AA Three Stars

The AA’s Rosette Award scheme assesses restaurants for the quality of their food. Annual awards, on a rising scale of one to five, are made solely on the basis of meal visits by the AA’s highly trained inspectors.

Rissons has been awarded a Rosette award every year since 2002. To receive this award “Chefs should display a mastery of basic techniques and be able to produce dishes of sound quality and clarity of flavours, using good, fresh ingredients” - The AA

From 2006, the AA have replaced the previous Diamonds rating for guest accomodation with Stars. To qualify for three stars an establishment must offer - “A friendly welcome and good-quality, well-presented beds and furniture. A choice of good-quality, freshly cooked food is available at breakfast.” - The AA

Visit Scotland

scottish tourist board Visit Scotland (previously named the The Scottish Tourist Board) employ a five-level star-grading system. Their stars are awarded based on the standard of customer care and range of facilities on offer at establishments.
